At 91´óÉñÊÓƵ, we recognise that all students have unique gifts and talents that require stimulating and challenging learning programs. To support these particular student needs, we offer a suite of Academic 91´óÉñÊÓƵ and Ignite Excellence programs and opportunities.

What is Academic 91´óÉñÊÓƵ?

Academic 91´óÉñÊÓƵ at Grace

The College recognises the unique learning and personal needs of gifted and academically talented students. The Academic 91´óÉñÊÓƵ Program of Grace Lutheran College incorporates dedicated staff who case manage our gifted and talented students, partnering with the child, their teachers and their parents in order to achieve best outcomes. 

APPLICATION PROCESS
Contact the Academic 91´óÉñÊÓƵ Coordinator (academicenrichment@glc.qld.edu.au) to request the Raven’s 2 Permission Form. Applicants will then sit the Raven’s 2 Progressive Matrices Exam at the College. No preparation is needed. Those who score on or above the 90th
percentile rank, qualify for the Academic 91´óÉñÊÓƵ Program under the high IQ pathway. Alternatively, students can qualify under the Academic Talent pathway by achieving an Academic Honours Award at the College for two consecutive years. Students can apply to sit the Raven’s 2 exam at any time.

Academic 91´óÉñÊÓƵ Staff

Both the Academic 91´óÉñÊÓƵ Coordinator of the College and the Academic 91´óÉñÊÓƵ Case Managers across Middle School and Senior School are available to support the academic, social, emotional and organisational needs of our Academic 91´óÉñÊÓƵ students. Our Academic 91´óÉñÊÓƵ staff are experienced in supporting students with perfectionism, anxiety, twice exceptionality, organisational struggles, time management challenges and study skill needs.

Individualised Academic 91´óÉñÊÓƵ Plans

As part of the program, individualised Academic 91´óÉñÊÓƵ Plans are written for participating students. These plans identify their areas of strength and growth. Co-curricular competitions and excursions are also on offer for these students.

Ignite Excellence Programs

At 91´óÉñÊÓƵ, we want to encourage every student to identify and unpack all their God-given gifts and talents. 

As such, all students at 91´óÉñÊÓƵ can also apply for our Ignite Excellence Programs and Opportunities. These programs are for students who demonstrate high levels of talent within a particular subject area. Students do not have to be in the Academic 91´óÉñÊÓƵ Program to qualify for the Ignite Excellence programs and opportunities.

Students are encouraged to apply for the Ignite Excellence programs and opportunities during Term 2 of the year prior to entry. Late applications are accepted throughout the year, but subject to availability. Use the link below to view the various Ignite Excellence activities and their application packages.

Ignite Excellence

Grace Lutheran College offers a broad range of exciting programs for students who are academically gifted or show exceptional talent in particular learning areas. These gifted and talented programs cover English Literature, Mathematics, Science, Dance, Music, Sport, FLEX (Foreign Languages Excellence) and Robotics. 

Designed to engage and challenge passionate learners, these programs are built to meet the needs gifted and talented students by providing opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills and motivation required to excel in their area of talent. 

Some Ignite Excellence Programs (such as Mathematics, Science and English) are facilitated via specialised classes in those subject areas (during the timetabled school day). Other Ignite Excellence programs and opportunities are co curricular.  Ignite Excellence students also have the opportunity to attend a range of events (including our FIRST Lego League Robotics competitions) and receive mentoring in their area of talent. 

91´óÉñÊÓƵ’s Caboolture and Rothwell Campuses each offer a selection of Ignite Excellence Programs for students. These are tailored to meet the gifts and talents demonstrated across the cohort. 

Students must apply to take part in 91´óÉñÊÓƵ’s Ignite Excellence Programs. Applications can be submitted to the Academic 91´óÉñÊÓƵ team,

by the end of Term 2 of the year prior to entry.  Late applications are accepted all year, but subject to availability.

Bright Minds Festival

The Bright Minds Festival is a premier program for primary school students in North Brisbane and Moreton Bay. The Bright Minds Festival seeks to 'engage-inspire-unite' bright young learners, empowering them to become tomorrow's leaders, innovators and change-makers. It is open to students in Prep - Grade 6 from any primary school.

Bright Minds Festival (Primary School Students)
An annual festival for primary school aged students, incorporating a range of engaging and challenging workshops.
